Scholar transport involved in crash in Ekurhuleni, no fatalities

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) responded to a scholar transport crash carrying 10 school children on Tonk Meter Road in Springs, Ekurhuleni this morning.

According to EMPD, an eyewitness claims that the scholar transport was attempting to overtake because of a traffic jam and ended up facing oncoming vehicles, resulting in a head-on collision with the Hyundai Getz.

EMPD spokesperson, Katlego Mphahlele says no fatalities have been reported.

“The female driver of the Hyundai Getz sustained serious injuries, including the driver of the scholar transport. The children were taken to N17 hospital for observation. The Ekurhuleni Metro Police urge motorists to take precautions and exercise patience on the wet roads with these frequent collisions.”
