Seven traffic officials arrested for alleged corruption in Limpopo

The Road Traffic Management Corporation and the Hawks have arrested seven traffic officials suspected of alleged corruption in Thabazimbi, Limpopo.

The vehicle examiners and clerks are suspected of taking bribes and selling drivers licenses.

They are allegedly part of syndicate of traffic officials and driving school instructors selling drivers licenses in the province.

On Friday, 11 traffic officials and four driving school instructors were arrested in Lephalale.

“These arrests bring to 18 the number of suspects arrested since operation began on Friday last week. Eleven suspects have now been linked to corruption at Lephalale licensing department and they are all in court today applying for bail,” says Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesperson Simon Zwane.
