‘South Africa will always be guided by the spirit of Ubuntu’

Deputy President, Paul Mashatile says South Africa will always be guided by the spirit of Ubuntu – caring for others – when it comes to international relations. He spoke ahead of the Ubuntu Awards ceremony taking place in Cape Town this evening.

The awards aim to celebrate South Africans who have made significant strides in their fields of expertise.

The Deputy President is delivering the keynote address.

One of the award categories, is the OR Tambo Lifetime Achievement, that is presented to a South African with a lifetime dedication to serving the country during or leading up to its democratic dispensation and has built lasting international relations.

With South Africa hosting the G20 summit, the ceremony is held under the theme,”Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability.”

Mashatile says the country strives to engage in a way that will enhance solidarity and collaboration in its international dealings.
