Parents and guardians in Gauteng are urged to finalise late applications for Grade 1 and 8 placements in public schools before Thursday’s deadline.

The Gauteng Education Department introduced this phase to assist parents who missed the 2025 Online Admissions period or have yet to secure a school for their children. So far, over 32 000 applicants have been placed.

The department spokesperson Steve Mabona says every effort is being made to place all remaining learners.

“Our efforts to address all queries and placements at our schools. We are focusing on making sure that the queues are lesser and lesser and we have seen that the queues are lesser because we are attending to all those that are in our offices. We plead with parents to embrace satellite schools as they assist the department in alleviating pressure in some areas.”
