Manhunt launched for Mpumalanga police officer’s killers

Police have launched a manhunt for suspects following the murder of a police officer in Ermelo, Mpumalanga.

Lieutenant-Colonel Piet Pretorius was gunned down while driving a state vehicle yesterday afternoon.

Provincial police spokesperson Jabu Ndubane says the vehicle is riddled with bullet holes.

He says the attackers fled the crime scene in a white car.

Ndubane has called on anyone with information to call 0860010111 or contact the nearest police station.

This follows a series of Police killings across the country between December 2024 and January 2025.

Two police officers have been gunned down while responding to a robbery at a house in Namahadi, Qwa Qwa in the Free State. The incident happened 10 days ago.

One New Year’s eve Constable Callan Andrews was disarmed while responding to a call in Gqeberha. Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the crime.
