Parents in Benoni frustrated as school placements go unresolved

There’s growing anger and frustration among parents queuing outside the Ekurhuleni North District office in Benoni for their children to be placed in schools.

Some of the parents say they’ve been going to the district office since Monday.

However, they’ve not received a positive response.

One parent, Lisakhe Qulu, says she successfully applied for her Grade 8 child through the Gauteng Online Admission system last year, but she was told yesterday that her child was not in the system.

“When I got to the school yesterday, I was told I didn’t submit documents but have a SMS on my phone stating that I applied for the child, but on their system says they cannot find the child so they cannot admit the child. So today, that’s why I’m here at the district”.
