Outside Levisa Bar in Pienaar, Mpumalanga where eight people were fatally shot.
Two suspects arrested in connection with the mass shooting in Pienaar Township are expected back in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s court in Mpumalanga today.
One suspect appeared yesterday at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mbombela.
Speaking during a press briefing at the provincial police headquarters, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major-General Zeph Mkhwanazi, says the suspect appeared for allegedly being in possession of three illegal firearms.
He says two suspects will appear in court today on charges of murder and attempted murder.
Mkhwanazi says, “And he was arrested with three firearms in his position and unfortunately, there were no ammunition in those firearms, of which at the moment we are still going around checking as well. Detectives are working very strong on it to find out to say exactly what happened, why all these three firearms are without ammunition. So he was arrested yesterday, and he appeared in court today as well, only for the firearms. He’s still going to appear tomorrow for the murder or for whatever case that is actually placed against him or charge placed against him.”
