The body of a 17-year-old boy from Khayelitsha in the Cape Flats has been found on Strand Beach.
National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the teenager went missing near the Strand Pump Station on Wednesday.
NSRI rescue swimmers and CoCT Strand lifeguards entered the water to conduct a sweeping line-free dive search.
During the search, rescue teams were alerted by a member of the public of an unresponsive person in shallow water along the beachfront.
Paramedics declared the teenager dead on the scene.
