Judgment in the Usindiso building fire matter has been postponed to the 21st of July in the High Court in Pretoria, pending an outstanding report.
Alleged arsonist Sthembiso Mdlalose faces 76 counts of murder for his alleged role in the August 2023 blaze, that claimed the lives of 76 people at the Johannesburg CBD building.

The State requested the postponement, saying it still requires confirmation from the mortuary before judgment proceedings can continue.
State prosecutor Thami Mpekane explains, “The state is requesting that this matter be remanded for the state to comply with the court. As per the directive, we agreed to visit the mortuary. As well as the photographer.”
