All schools now reopened in Cape Winelands District

The Western Cape Education Department says all schools in the Cape Winelands District have now reopened.

Several schools had been closed since last week after severe weather damaged and washed away roads, making some areas inaccessible.

Provincial Education Minister, David Maynier, says six schools in the Eden and Central Karoo Education District remain closed because access roads are still blocked.

District officials and school staff are working on getting teaching and learning back to normal for these schools as soon as possible.

Catch-up plans will also be implemented to ensure that no learner is disadvantaged by the impact of the severe weather events.
