ATM accuses Didiza of protecting Ramaphosa in Phala Phala saga

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza.

African Transformation Movement (ATM) MP, Vuyolwethu Zungula, has accused the Speaker of the National Assembly, Thoko Didiza, of protecting President Cyril Ramaphosa.

This after Didiza rejected the party’s request for a motion of no confidence against Ramaphosa.

The ATM’s request was sparked by the Constitutional Court ruling that Parliament must establish an impeachment committee for Ramaphosa to answer to prima facie evidence about foreign currency stolen from his Phala Phala farm.

Zungula says Didiza has a pattern of defending Ramaphosa even when it is clear there is a case for him to answer.

“The clear consistent trend here is that the issue of protection…the Speaker protecting the President instead of allowing Parliament to fulfil section one and two of the constitution, she is basically protecting the president.”
