Madlanga Commission of Inquiry commissioners.
Leader of the Afrika Mayibuye Movement, Floyd Shivambu, has called for the further extension of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
This after President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the deadline to the 31st of August.
The Commission is investigating claims by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of political interference and corruption in law enforcement agencies.
Shivambu further called for the commission to broaden its investigation beyond law enforcement and investigate state owned enterprises and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
“So, Afrika Mayibuye is calling for the extension and expansion of the time frames and mandate of the Madlanga Commission so that it can investigate criminality across all spheres of society in South Africa, including all the municipalities and also including the South African Revenue Services and all state-owned companies, but also the South African National Defence Force. There’s been a lot of issues that are raised about the South African National Defence force that need urgent intervention.”
Madlanga Commission extended to 31 August 2026:
