KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
The Independent Directorate Against Corruption says reports claiming a warrant of arrest has been issued for KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, are false.
IDAC Spokesperson Henry Mamothame has labeled the reports as misinformation that undermines law enforcement.
Mamothame says, “The investigating directorate against corruption notes with concern the rumours and inquiries that it has a J50 warrant of arrest for Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi. We wish to state clearly that this information is false and dismiss it with the contempt it deserves. Members of society are urged to be vigilant against false information circulated on social media platforms aimed at destabilising and discrediting law enforcement in the country.”
The KZN Police Commissioner last July hosted a media conference in Durban where he made allegations of political interference and corruption in the police service.
Among those implicated was Police Minister Senzo Mchunu who remains on special leave.
