‘62% of electricity restored in WC areas affected by recent storms’

The Western Cape Minister for Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development, Anton Bredell, says electricity has been restored to about 62% of areas affected by the recent storms.

He says Eskom teams are restoring power in the Cape Winelands and Theewaterskloof areas, where high voltage infrastructure sustained significant damage.

Bredell says they’re dealing with the devastation wreaked by the storms and are also monitoring the weather for the coming days.

He says the Weather Service has warned of yet another weather system developing early next week.

Rainfall is expected primarily in the Overberg and Garden Route regions.

Bredell and Western Cape Premier, Alan Winde, will be doing aerial assessments of the affected areas on Monday.
