A man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teenage girl at a village in Malamulele in Limpopo.
Police say the suspect held a 13-year old girl at his place where she was repeatedly raped overnight on Wednesday.
The victim was found the following day after she didn’t return home.
Police say she had been sent to fetch water with a wheelbarrow in the late afternoon but she didn’t return home.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says a rape case was opened by the victim’s father after medical reports indicated that she was sexually abused.
“Upon being questioned, the victim allegedly informed the complainant that the suspect had taken her and repeatedly raped. The matter was immediately reported to the police, and a case of rape was opened. The suspect was subsequently arrested. The victim was taken to local Hospital for medical examination.”
