Community members and civic movements marched in Vosloorus calling for Mazwi Kubheka’s safe return.
The family of Mazwi Khubeka has thanked the community of Vosloorus and marchers who came from far and wide to support their call for his safe return. Khubeka was kidnapped last month after refusing to give up his spaza shop. He turned up at the Vosloorus Police Station on Saturday night after protests on Friday calling for his safe return.

On the police statement, it said drop off. That means he was dropped off here at police station by someone who helped him. He was not dropped off by his captors.
Mazwi doesn’t know whether it was day or night. The light was never switched…

Authorities say Malawians, Ethiopians and South Africans were involved in his kidnapping.
Kubheka’s elder sister, Nomhle Kubheka says the family is relieved their brother returned alive.
“I remember there were two ladies from Katlehong who didnt have money for transport, it was cold but they walked to Vosloorus and helped us look for Mazwi. If it wasn’t for Friday’s march we wouldn’t be here even though I initially felt that the march was in vein.”
