Hlabisa calls for improved service delivery at local gov level

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Velenkosini Hlabisa says service delivery must be restored at local government level to rebuild hope among South Africans. Hlabisa was speaking in Westonaria, Gauteng where the party commemorated Freedom Day.

He told supporters that small enterprises and job creation must be prioritised, alongside restoring accountability and moral leadership in public life.

“Hope returns when people can work, when children walk to safe schools, when clinics and hospitals function and when leaders answer to the people of South Africa. Today, Freedom Day must call us to pursue economic and social freedom to make every citizen an owner of his or her destiny.”

Hlabisa meanwhile, has commended the South African Police Service (SAPS) for their swift action in arresting three suspects linked to the murder of seven members of the Monswamy family.

The suspects were arrested last week following the killings in Newark in KwaZulu-Natal. Hlabisa says the police’s rapid response sets the standard South Africans should expect from government.

“I do not appreciate the fish for swimming because it is doing what it is supposed to do, but knowing many people who die with no trace who killed them, I really want us to give a round of applause to men in blue and women in blue for the good work they are doing in our country as they demonstrated in the Monsami family. Can we give them a round of applause? This is a standard the nation must demand.”
