President Cyril Ramaphosa delivers keynote address at the opening of the National House of Traditional and Khoisan leaders in Parliament.
Parliament has confirmed that the African Transformation Movement (ATM) has lodged an impeachment motion request against President Cyril Ramaphosa with National Assembly Speaker, Thoko Didiza.
This flows from the release of a report by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) flagging the conduct of two senior SAPS members who probed the theft at the President’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.
The ATM contends that this aligns the President’s conduct with a cover-up orchestrated by senior police officers, including Head of Security Major-General Wally Rhoode
Parliament’s spokesperson, Molotho Mothapo, says, “The Speaker of the National Assembly confirms the receipt of the correspondence from the African Transformation Movement. She is currently applying her mind to this content, and she will be guided by this content and the rules of the National Assembly and the established national processes in arriving at any decision.”
