Newly elected DA leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has elected current Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis as the new leader of the party.
Hill-Lewis was elected by over two thousand delegates at the party’s Federal Congress, which took place in Midrand, Johannesburg, over the past two days.
He beat contender Sibusiso Dyonase, caucus leader of the Sedibeng Municipality, to the top post.

The party’s Bridget Masango made the announcement this Sunday afternoon.
“This has been a contest between two candidates, and we commend their collegial, respectful and thorough campaigning. They have both been a true credit to this party as they have stood as candidates. Delegates, it is my pleasure to announce that the new federal leader of the Democratic Alliance is Jordan Hill Lewis.”
