Limpopo police are investigating two separate domestic violence incidents that occurred on Tuesday.
In the first incident, a 48-year-old woman was shot and wounded, allegedly by her husband, following a domestic dispute in Wisani outside Tzaneen.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court on a charge of attempted murder.
The firearm used in the incident has not yet been recovered.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man was killed during an altercation at his wife’s home at Ga-Maila Segolo outside Jane Furse.
Police say the man allegedly attacked his wife, their three-year-old child and his father-in-law with a sharp object.
The father-in-law is reported to have retaliated, fatally injuring the man.
Ledwaba says multiple charges are being investigated.
“Three counts of attempted murder, as well as a case of murder, are under investigation. The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has extended her condolences to the victims’ families. She further expressed her deep sadness over these incidents and further indicated that her thoughts are with the victims and their families. Lastly, she urged people struggling in their relationships and having domestic-related challenges to seek assistance from professionals,” said Ledwaba.
Police say investigations in both cases are ongoing.
