FOSA demands probe into “kingpins” following Nkosi’s arrest

Civil society organisation the Forum for South Africa(FOSA) says police sergeant Fanie Nkosi’s arrest must be the start of a wider probe.

FOSA has warned against targeting only middlemen while the real culprits go free.

This, as Nkosi remains in custody until April 13th, when he will apply for bail.

Nkosi faces charges including theft and possession of illegal ammunition, following a raid at his Pretoria home.

This all came after Nkosi’s testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into criminality in the country’s criminal justice system.

Tebogo Mashilompane, FOSA’s National leader, says, “It’s clear and simple: investigations must also start from the top, even if you started at the back, but you must ultimately go out. Because we don’t want a situation where the network continues. As long as the top ones are not arrested. But we hear that there’s fear of people investigating certain types of people; when there are politicians and the powerful, we’re scared to investigate them”.
