Easter Egg hunt at Johannesburg Zoo brings families together

Families who took part in a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt at the Johannesburg Zoo on Sunday say the event afforded them an opportunity to relax and spend quality time with loved ones. Visitors also enjoyed the unique experience of viewing the Big Five animals.

Children took part in the exciting Easter egg hunt, while parents and guardians enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Zoo’s beautiful surroundings.

Jenny Moodley from Joburg Parks and Zoo says they’re fortunate as the city to host such an event for families.

“Many people don’t understand the relevance of Easter and the egg in terms of the Joburg Zoo. The egg symbolises life and for us. There’s so much alignment in terms of what the Joburg Zoo offers. We offer the Big Five experience one of the few Zoo’s in the world that have the Big Five experience in the heart of the city centre.”

Some of the children say they were entertained by the Easter Bunnies and the hunt for  hundreds of Easter eggs.

“It’s so nice, it’s such a nice activity for kids, we really enjoyed it and I got 13 Easter eggs.”

Although some captured more than 20 eggs each, they say the hunting experience wasn’t an easy activity.

“With all of the grass and other things it was very hard because everything was scattered everywhere and we needed to also look into the rocks.”

The Joburg Park and Zoo say the event forms part of their commitment to providing a safe, educational and enjoyable outdoor experiences for residents and visitors.
