The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is calling on people to donate blood.
Donor Relations Practitioner at the blood service, Mompati Sebogo, says they need more blood, especially at this time of the year when some road crashes increase.
Sebogo says they need about 3 500 units of blood on a daily basis.
“The doctors also preferred to schedule their surgeries during this period, as we are moving towards the winter period. So demand just goes very, very high. So kindly keep us in mind to donate blood as often as you can because the need does not take leave, does not go on vacation; the need stays constant on a daily basis, which is 3 500 units, and during this time, the Easter period, the number just goes extremely high.”
