10 arrested in Free State fraud bust

A multi-police task team has arrested 10 suspects, one woman and nine men, for alleged fraud in Odendaalsrus, in the Free State. This, after a 47-year-old woman applied for a bank loan using fraudulent documents.

Spokesperson Palesa Thabana says police were alerted to a suspicious loan application at a financial institution. The bank manager informed the police that the loan application for the amount of R250 000 was provisionally approved and awaiting security checks.

It was, however, discovered that the salary advice submitted by the applicant was fraudulent.

The suspects were arrested and police confiscated several bank cards found in their possession.
