Zuma challenges court decision on TRC Inquiry leadership

Former President Jacob Zuma has written a letter to the Constitutional Court, intending to seek leave to appeal the decision by the High Court in Johannesburg’s that Justice Sisi Khampepe remains Chairperson of the TRC Cases Inquiry.

Earlier this week, the court dismissed the application brought by Zuma and former president, Thabo Mbeki for Kampepe’s recusal. They argue that Kampepe’s past roles specifically on the original Truth and Reconciliation Commission amnesty committee and as deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions created a “reasonable apprehension of bias”.
