The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), together with various law enforcement agencies conducting the Easter Weekend Safety Launch in the Kwa-Thema on March 27, 2026.
The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services say law enforcement authorities will be deployed to major routes throughout the Easter period.
It says they will monitor traffic flow and ensure compliance with road safety regulations.
The City’s Emergency Services spokesperson, Eric Maloka, has urged drivers to adhere to speed limits, avoid reckless and negligent driving and ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.
Maloka says, “Travellers should also anticipate longer travel times due to congestion. In light of possible rainy weather conditions, road users are encouraged to reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance and switch on headlights to improve visibility.”
He adds, “Motorists should avoid attempting to drive through flooded areas, as this may pose serious danger. Law enforcement authorities will be deployed on major routes to monitor traffic flow and ensure compliance with road safety regulations throughout the Easter period.”
