Operation Shanela in the Free State has netted over 1 000 suspects.
The South African Police Service say the operation is part of its continued efforts to ensure the safety of the province’s residents.
Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says the ongoing multidisciplinary operations are carried in residential areas, on major transit routes and in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District.
Kareli says over 39 000 people have been searched, while over 1 300 vehicles were stopped and searched during the operations.
