Bellarmine Mugabe’s case postponed for further investigations

The case of Bellarmine Mugabe, son of late former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Matonhodze has been postponed to April 17 in Alexandra Regional Court, Johannesburg for further investigations.

They are accused of shooting a 23-year-old gardener at the Mugabe residence in Hyde Park in February.

Mugabe and Matonhodze face charges of attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, unlawful possession of a firearm, and contravening the Immigration Act.

The pair abandoned their bail application after the state argued they may be a flight risk due to their alleged illegal status.

The magistrate says no agreement was reached on the issues of the charges which the state is going to prefer against the accused and that the state is of the view that this matter should be postponed for further investigations.
