Mine workers underground
Mine rescue teams at Ekapa Minerals mine in Kimberley, Northern Cape, have retrieved all five bodies of the mineworkers who were trapped underground during a mud rush incident on the 17th of February.

The first body was retrieved, last week Monday. The other two were brought to the surface, on Sunday morning. The last bodies were taken out in the early hours of Monday morning.

Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe will be back at the Ekapa Minerals mine this morning for the third time since the incident.
The diamond mine which employed over 1000 miners has applied for liquidation, leaving the miners jobless and unpaid salaries.
