Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya.
Suspended deputy national police commissioner, General Shadrack Sibiya, has accused Commissioner Sesi Baloyi of trying to overwhelm him.
Appearing before the Madlanga Commission, Sibiya has been grilled about his relationship with Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
Various witnesses at the commission have testified about how General Sibiya financially benefitted from Matlala, even receiving impalas from him – an allegation which he since denied.
General Sibiya lashed out at Commissioner Baloyi, stating that she is leveraging her position of authority to coerce him into a concession.
“Don’t overwhelm me. The authority is different. I am sitting here where I am and you are at a higher authority in such a way that I have to respect the authority. And the fact that where you are coming from, you’re speaking from a position of power, does not necessarily mean that now it compels me to concede. And then the moment I concede, then the media says he conceded this, was grilled for this, he was forced to do this. It’s unfair.”
Earlier, Sibiya denied receiving R300 000 from Matlala at his son’s engagement in September 2024, saying, that his family did not need money from Matlala.
