Gauteng Education officials visit Grade 5 learner, Neo Mokgoatsane’s family in Tembisa.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane has vowed to find out what happened to the deceased Grade 5 learner, Neo Mokgoatsane, from Reagile Primary School in Tembisa.
Reagile reportedly died on Monday 16 February after a goalpost fell on him while he was playing on the school’s soccer field.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday outside the boy’s family home, Chiloane promised the community that all schools have been instructed to ensure their goalposts are cemented onto the ground.
“So what we have done as a department, we have also set up an independent investigation law firm to also assist with more answers to get much more clarity as to what could have led to the incident, what happened post as well, so that we are able to provide that information and also who should be held liable, accountable and so forth. So, that law firm will really help us with regard to that, with the detail of that investigation.”
Today we visited the home of the young Grade R learner from Bernard Isaacs Primary School with a heart that is truly broken.
