Zimbabwe through as Australia crash out of T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe have advanced and Australia have been knocked out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Zimbabwe, who caused a major upset by beating the Aussies in Colombo last Friday, booked their spot in the Super Eight stage of the tournament, courtesy of an abandoned match against Ireland in Kandy.

The Chevrons earned a point, putting them three points clear of Australia in Group B with one round of matches to go and a maximum of two points up for grabs.

Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka meet in a top-of-the-table match on Thursday, while Australia’s final match of the tournament is against Oman in Friday.
