Three people, including an infant, have been shot dead in Athlone on the Cape Flats. Police say according to preliminary reports, three suspects opened fire on people at Sunbird Court, before fleeing the scene on Monday.
Two women aged 25 and 36, as well as a nine-month-old baby were killed, two men were wounded.
The motive for the attack is unknown.
Police spokesperson, Andre Traut appeal to anyone who could assist police to contact crime stop.
“Detectives attached to the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are working around the clock to identify and arrest the three suspects who fled the scene. All available resources leading the investigation. All available resources have been mobilised to bring those responsible to justice. We appeal to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS mobile application.”
