Scholar Transport picking up students
The Gauteng Education Department has confirmed that it has paid scholar transport service providers.
The department’s spokesperson Steve Mabona says all affected operations are expected to resume next Monday.
Mabona further cautioned transport operators to avoid disruptions at all costs, warning that such actions negatively impact the wellbeing of learners and the broader community.
“The Department sincerely apologises to learners and parents for the inconvenience caused by recent disruptions. We wish to reassure all stakeholders that learner support remains a priority and comprehensive catch-up programmes are being implemented to minimise loss of teaching and learning time.”
Mabona adds, “We wish to reiterate that the stakeholders need to make sure they prioritise engagements with the department in the event of anything.”
