Parliament to update media on SONA arrangements

Parliament will host a media briefing Thursday afternoon to outline logistics, security and broadcasting arrangements for the evening’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

This includes accreditation processes, access points and media positions for the duration of the programme.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver this year’s SONA at the Cape Town City Hall.

In a media statement, Parliament’s spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says the latest update forms part of the Parliamentary preparations to ensure well-coordinated media operations before the SONA.

“Bread and butter issues”

Meanwhile, some of political parties represented in Parliament say Ramaphosa must address bread and butter issues facing South Africans when he delivers the SONA.

Parties say the president must address, joblessness, water challenges as well as safety and security matters.
