Mass prayer for Isipingo crash victims to be held at King Zwelithini

The Department of Transport in KwaZulu-Natal, led by MEC Siboniso Duma, will hold a mass prayer and memorial service for the 11 victims who lost their lives in the Isipingo crash last week.

The victims died when the Toyota Quantum taxi they were travelling in collided with a truck on the R102 near Lotus Park.

On Tuesday, Duma released the names of the victims and the date of the memorial service after meeting with their families.

The memorial service is expected to take place at King Zwelithini Stadium on February 5, 2026, in Umlazi Township from 10:30 AM.

Duma acknowledged the professionalism of the investigating officer from the SAPS Isipingo Police Station.

He has worked with our team to ensure that families are assisted in going through the process of identifying their loved ones at the Park Rynie Mortuary. We can confirm that all families have been located. I have mandated the team to be closer to the families as they go through this emotional process, which involves accepting the tragic departure of their loved ones.”

The families will bury their loved ones individually.
