Bastiaanse High School in Beaufort West
The Western Cape Education Department has condemned the disruption at Bastiaanse High School in Beaufort West that happened Wednesday morning, saying threats of further unrest are unacceptable and put learners and staff at risk.
The protest followed a placement dispute of 28 learners.
Provincial Department of Education Spokesperson Bronagh Hammond says applications were late and the school chosen lacked capacity.
She says parents were given alternative English-medium placements at two nearby schools, one of which is a no-fee school and several learners have already accepted these options.
Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier confirmed that every school in the province has been furnished with the necessary equipment.
