File Image: Authorities say scores of residents of the Dunoon informal settlement have been dispalced following a fire incident
The City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management Centre (DRMC) says registration of people affected by the Site five informal settlement fire at Du Noon are underway.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis earlier indicated that nearly one-thousand dwellings had been destroyed.

DRMC spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, says efforts to clear the fire site are underway and some residents have started rebuilding their structures. Powell says a building inspector has also arrived on site to check the integrity of the perimeter wall and formal dwellings.
“Once the impact of the fire has been confirmed and all affected persons registered, the lists will be submitted to SASSA, the Provincial Department of Social Development and the National Department of Human Settlements for relief from their side.”
