The African National Congress (ANC) has vowed to work to mend its strained relations with the South African Communist Party (SACP) to save the tripartite alliance from crumbling.
That’s according to party President Cyril Ramaphosa, while visiting the grave of the longest SACP General-Secretary and ANC Treasurer General, Moses Kotane, in Pella outside Rustenburg.

Ramaphsoa was in the area as part of the ANC mobilisation program ahead of its 114th main celebrations at the Moruleng Stadium on Saturday.
With the SACP now having vowed to contest elections independently, Ramaphosa says they will have a proper discussion with the party to help resolve their differences.
“The alliance is not going to die. All of us as leaders of the various components of the alliance, we have committed ourselves to renewal. Renewal not only of our individual organisations but of the alliance as a whole and we have committed ourselves to continuing to unify the alliance. We have accepted the SACP decision to contest the elections. We are going to be settling down with them and discuss the full details of all that and we have agreed that we are going to have a proper engagement and have a proper discussion. They have taken that decision and we don’t agree with that decision but is a decision of the SACP.”
