A passenger has been killed when a minibus taxi overturned on the N1 near Sebetiela toll gate outside Mokopane in Limpopo.
A passenger has died and 14 others have been injured when the minibus taxi they were traveling in, overturned on the N1 south near Sebetiela tollgate in Mokopane, Limpopo.
This comes as holidaymakers are making their way back to various destinations. The incident has delayed the traffic in both lanes of the N1, as police were investigating.
The N1 in Limpopo has been experiencing high traffic volumes. A male passenger lost his life when a minibus taxi overturned after a tyre burst.
Of the 14 injured, including the driver, four are in a critical condition. The minibus taxi was travelling from Polokwane to Johannesburg.
This has caused a delay of over three hours, with traffic on the N1 stretching up to five kilometers. Some motorists had this to say.
“I am traveling from Ha-Mulima to Pretoria this traffic has affected us very much we have delayed I thought that by now I’ll be at Pretoria now the traffic is jammed. We are very very much affected by the traffic the kids are hungry. I wanted to rest early but we are stuck here. When we arrived here we are stuck we found out there was an incident we are delaying.”
The Limpopo Traffic Department says all the injured have been taken to Mokopane and Mahwelereng hospitals.
The Department has urged motorists to adhere to the rules of the roads.
