Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae welcomes New Year’s Day babies.
Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae has commended the fathers who were present at the hospital to support mothers of new babies born on New Year’s Day.
The Premier visited both Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein and Dr JS Moroka in Thaba Nchu to welcome newborns on the first day of the new year.
Letsoha-Mathae has stressed the critical role of fathers in the upbringing of their children.
“And what also pleases me as a premier of the Free State is the response that I got from some of the patients there. There’s a patient that comes from Xhariep District who said to me premier Pelonomi has improved. Please just tell the MEC to keep it the way it is. So we are hopeful that going forward we have men who really take responsibility as well making sure that when we are address this issue of GBV, you know I’m passionate about, we address it from here where we are. I’m happy that the father is next to the mother today, that you’re here on day one. When your partner is giving birth, you’re starting to bond with the child from day one. I’m very happy to see such couples,” says the Premier.
