Fans urge Bafana Bafana to shore up defense after narrow win

Some Bafana Bafana fans in Polokwane say the team must improve its defense if it is to progress further in the African Cup of Nations underway in Morocco. They were speaking after Bafana Bafana’s close victory over Zimbabwe in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Monday.

South Africa has finished second in Group B behind Egypt, advancing to the round of 16. While there are concerns about the team’s tactics in the match against Zimbabwe, some fans say they still have faith in the players.

Some supporters, such as Kambou Sansan and Brown Makumbe, have gone on to wish South Africa well in their upcoming fixture, expressing hope that the team can bring the trophy home.

Supporter Kambou Sansan says, “Bafana Bafana was playing very well more than Zimbabwe because Bafana Bafana will need draw to qualify that don’t need to win to qualify, but Bafana Bafana win 3-2. they played very well very…

“Next game South Africa should continue from that game. As a Southern Africa we wish south africa to continue until we take AFCON, so we are happy for South Africa to take AFCON, that AFCON is us as Africans,” adds Brown Makumbe

Some fans believe the squad needs to strengthen its defensive line to reduce pressure on the goalkeeper.

Football fan, Jacky Mashile, says players should also be more confident in taking long-range shots to increase their scoring opportunities.

“If they can just improve the back line, the strikers play well, they must also try to shoot while they are a bit far. The backiline must be organized, the midlefield is very good, that is what i have seen yesterday, they have improved. I think the next game we will win it, no problem in South Africa.”

South Africa will play their next match in early January against one of the teams from Group F. -Reporting by Nsuku Shiluvana
