Three suspects arrested on the Cape Flats are expected to appear in court on Monday. The suspects are charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of illegal firearms, and contravention of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
The arrests followed police anti-gang violence operations during the weekend.
The three include a suspect in the Athlone Court murder earlier this month.

Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says, “As part of targeted operations to curb ongoing incidents of gang violence afflicting Cape Flats communities that result in murder and attempted murder cases, anti-gang unit detectives swooped on different locations on the Cape Flats and arrested three gang members linked to murders and attempted murders. The arrested suspects will appear in Mitchell’s Plain and Athlone Courts.”
