Mogotsi alleges ‘Cat’ Matlala visited General Mkhwanazi at his house

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has heard how attempted murder accused Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala allegedly visited General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi at his house.

The visit was allegedly over the South African Police Service (SAPS) tender awarded to Matlala’s company, but was subsequently withdrawn.

This is according to North-West businessman Brown Mogotsi, who is testifying before the Madlanga Commission.

However, Commission Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga has questioned Mogotsi why Matlala would speak to Mkhwanazi on the matter when the deal was concluded at national level.

Judge Madlanga: I’m thinking that the tender that I understand was a tender concluded at national level. Did Mr Matlala explain how the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS commissioner would’ve assisted on this?

Mogotsi: He never said. Honestly, I thought he was going to meet General Cele or someone close to General Cele. But then I only got surprised when he said ‘General Mkhwanazi and I was in his house’.
