Accused one in the Senzo Meyiwa trial Muzi Sibiya in the dock.
The defence in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial says it is ready to call a new witness. One of the accused, Muzi Sibiya, has wrapped up his testimony in the High Court in Pretoria.
Sibiya and four others are on trial for killing the former Bafana Bafana captain in Vosloorus, Gauteng, in October 2014.
Sibiya maintains that he did not make a statement to the police about his alleged involvement in the killing of Meyiwa.
The state alleges Sibiya was the lookout man when two intruders entered the Khumalo home and fired shots that killed Senzo Meyiwa. An alleged contract killing said to have been ordered by Meyiwa’s former girlfriend Kelly Khumalo.
This information is said to have been provided by Sibiya in a statement made to the police following his arrest on 30 May 2020.
The State further alleges Sibiya subsequently pointed out the crime scene a few days later, on 5 June 2020. Sibiya has repeatedly denied.
He claims he was assaulted and tortured multiple times before being coerced into signing documents he had no knowledge of.
The trial continues.
