Locals chant slogans as they protest, following local media reports of a killing of an e-hailing driver the previous day
The family of slain e-hailing driver, Mthokosizi Khuzwayo, is reeling following his brutal murder last night.
The 27-year-old was gunned down and his vehicle set alight allegedly by disgruntled taxi operators outside the Maponya Mall in Pimville, Soweto.
Two other people were shot and wounded and taken to hospital.
Khuzwayo who is from KwaZulu-Natal had just started as an e-hailing driver, the Monday before he was murdered.
His aunt, Zanele Khuzwayo says Mthokosizi had big plans for the future.
“He was a respectful child, you will never hear that Mthokosizi was involved in a fight or anything, never. He was always full of stories and I was like, when are you going to start working because I always asked him, 30 is starting to approach, you are 27 now and you need to start working. So he said, don’t worry aunty I got this uber thing that’s going to come right for me, I am not going to bother you, you know.”
