SA Women’s rugby national team travels to UK for 2025 Rugby World Cup

South Africa’s national women’s rugby team received its official send-off to the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening.

The squad will travel to the United Kingdom on Thursday ahead of the first match in Pool D, against Brazil, in 10 days.

Their recent victory over the New Zealand Black Ferns Fifteen has given the Springbok Women a great deal of confidence.

According to vice-captain Babalwa Latsha, they are not getting ahead of themselves, while lock Danelle Lochner says she is looking forward to the pool games.

“We are not looking too far ahead. It’s important that we don’t get lost in the noise and win this game. The key is to focus on the first game to ensure we do well and then look at other games. I think everyone is excited about being part of the squad. Last game against The Black Ferns Fifteen gave us massive confidence, and we’re excited and ready to see what the pool games have in store for us.”
