Dr Nobuhle Nkabane delivers her budget vote speech to the National Assembly
Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr. Nobuhle Nkabane has condemned the ongoing killings at institutions of higher learning in the country.
She was delivering the department’s 2025/6 budget vote in Parliament.
Nkabane says some of the department’s financial resources are diverted to beef-up security measures at institutions of higher learning.
“Through these violent tragic deaths that destabilise our institutions of higher learning communities and families as well as the broader community of higher learning. This violence forces our institutions to spend resources for security measures that could be more productively applied to the academic investments.
I as the Minister of Higher Education condemned this violence in the strongest terms because our institutions are becoming unsafe. Despite this violence our commitment remains steadfast to build a post-education school and training system that is inclusive and equitable.”
