Persistent rainfall causes localised flooding in Cape Town

The City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre says persistent rainfall has caused localised flooding in several areas, including Masiphumelele, Khayelitsha and Du Noon.

City of Cape Town spokesperson Sonica Lategan says officials have assessed the situation and no residents have been displaced.

She says the City is providing support to assist affected communities.

“The DRMC is liaising with relevant City departments to provide assistance with highlighted needs, which include plastic sheeting, sand and milling and sandbags,” adds Lategan.
