Mpumalanga man to appear in court for allegedly violating graves

A 29-year-old man is expected to appear in the Masoyi Magistrate’s Court outside Hazyview in Mpumalanga today for allegedly violating graves.

The suspect was arrested at his home in Swalala after being found in possession of human bones. The man is accused of digging the graves of his father and grandfather at a local cemetery.

Provincial police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli says the man was found lying on his bed with bones next to him.

“There was a person who came to the police in Masoyi and reported this incident and police went and they indeed confirmed that the two graves were dug in Swalala. They then proceeded to the house of the suspect and found him lying in bed with the bones next to him. He was then apprehended. The bones were confiscated and will form part of the investigation.”
